Good News
I pleased to announce that as of July 1, 2014 I will receive tenure at the University of Windsor and will be promoted to the rank of Associate Professor in the School of Creative Arts – Music.
It’s been a long road with many successes and challenges along the way. Thanks to all of you who have sent well wishes!
Odds and Ends
Lots activities in the last month. I greatly enjoyed the two recent Windsor Symphony cycles: our concert performance of Bizet’s Carmen and the recent pops concert featuring our assistant concert master Tino Popovic.
Noiseborder Ensemble is gearing up for a residency with the Sandeep Bhagwati from Concordia University’s Matralab. We’ll share a performance on April 1 at the University of Windsor.
I was pleased to have a masterclass and recital at the University with Philip O’Banion from Temple University on March 5. His new program is really enjoyable with some innovative technological interactions. I look forward to setting up my appearance at Temple in fall 2014.
More to come!

Variable Rates performance at the Stone Mountain Arts Center
Boston percussionist, Aaron Trant, premiered my composition Variable Rates for snare drum at the Massachusetts PAS Day of Percussion in 2008. Since then he’s included the work in programs with the Firebird Ensemble and the BMOP Club series.
On January 26th, he will bring the piece to the Stone Mountain Arts Center in Maine.
The program also features Lisa Saffer (soprano), Rane Moore (clarinet), and Sarah Bob (piano) playing works by Schubert, Poulenc, Xenakis, Mozart, and Bach.

River of Fundament – Movie Premiere
In 2010, I performed in Matthew Barney’s KHU, a large scale site specific performance in various parts of Detroit, along with members of the Detroit Symphony, New Music Detroit, and faculty from the University of Michigan. The operatic performance is based upon the myths of Osiris and Isis as well as Norman Mailer’s novel Ancient Evenings.
Footage from the KHU performance will appear in Barney’s newest film, River Of Fundament. The film will premiere at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in February 2014 with subsequent showings in the UK and Australia.
